Julie Lam

In 1992, Julie Lam founded Highgate House School with a clear focus on early childhood education. As a mother seeking quality educational options for her own children, Julie established the school to serve children aged 0-6, emphasizing individualized learning and strong partnerships between families and educators. The school was built on the principle that young children thrive in supportive environments where their development can progress naturally, whilst parents will feel genuinely welcome and involved in their child’s educational experience.

What started as one mother’s quest has grown into four decades of transforming lives, reshaping how we understand and support those crucial early years. Julie’s approach goes way beyond traditional education—it’s about recognising the incredible wisdom that comes when we learn to listen to children from our own true connected self.

Julie’s expertise covers the whole journey of child development from birth right through to 21, including her work as a course leader for teacher training and her specialisation in play therapy and counselling. This broad understanding means she sees each child’s path as one beautiful, connected story—knowing that what happens in those early years echoes throughout their entire life.

Her approach draws from a rich tapestry of cultural perspectives on child development, creating a supportive and holistic educational philosophy to truly nurture young children.  This multicultural understanding brings such valuable insight to her work with families from all backgrounds.
